The Easy Mount was specially designed to provide a solution for all the mechanical aspects that determine accurate weighing in process applications. Thanks to its ingenious force transmission system with crossed axes, the weight is always transferred to exactly the same point on the load cell, even when the unit is tilted. When a silo or reactor expands, the shaft slides over the load cell, but the point of contact on the load cell always remains exactly the same. In this way, this mount ensures that maximum accuracy—1/10,000 and often even better—is achieved and maintained. It can be easily installed by someone with little experience in weighing systems.

Compression load cells offer advantages for certain applications.

Compression load cells have certain advantages and disadvantages; the key is to use them only in applications for which they are best suited.

Compression load cells are sensitive to misalignment, especially the single-column models. The multi-column cells perform better but are more expensive. Misalignment causes a loss of accuracy. Compression load cells are also poorly resistant to lateral forces; they must be protected against these by a mount. Therefore, compression load cells must always be used in a pendulum-type, self-centering assembly or mount. This is the case, for example, with weighbridges; in fact, most compression load cells are designed for this purpose.

The COMP-SALM shown above is self-centering and pendulum-type. The self-centering feature is particularly necessary for moving structures such as container loaders or other mobile heavy-duty structures. It is less suitable for accurate silo weighing.

However, the cost of a very high-capacity compression load cell (over 100 metric tons) is significantly lower than that of a shear beam, which is why they are suitable for weighing very heavy silos. However, they will never achieve the high accuracy possible with a shear beam (Easy Mount)

The COMP Self-Aligning Mount (10, 25, & 40 metric tons per mount) was specially designed for container loaders. Both during installation and later during use, this mount ensures that maximum accuracy is achieved and maintained: 1/5,000 and sometimes even better. It can be easily installed by someone with little experience in weighing systems.
This mount is the tool that will help you install efficiently and weigh with high precision.

Simple & inexpensive, but…

What at first glance appears to be cheaper and easier to install actually causes quite a few problems in practice for some applications. This load cell is very sensitive to torsion; therefore, it must always be installed with at least one pivot point. (preferably above the load cell) If not, measurement errors will occur, and the load cell may even break. Since this load cell can break as a result of torsion, the installation must always be equipped with break-safety devices (chains, threaded rods).

A suspended setup begins to sway at the slightest movement: a motor starting up, a conveyor belt, or a mixer starting up. This results in unstable weighing. This compromises accuracy and jeopardizes safety. For these reasons, it is advisable to stabilize the weighed structure. Breakage protectors, joints, and stabilization systems significantly increase the cost; in many cases, one of our self-aligning mounts or an Easy-mount is therefore a better solution.
